Nang Loi – Ramayana Exhibition

This hand woven panel is a part of “Tha Many Faces of Ramayana, held at the Thailand Cultural Centre in Bangkok in 2019.

The artwork depics a scene when Rama is deceived by a demon that Sita, is stolen wife, has died. The scene was set on a river bank where the demon floated upstream to his pavilion. Later, the demon was caught and tried to fly away. I was inspired by a mural painting of the same episode in The Emeral Buddha Temple in Bangkok.

Hand woven with paper yarn, cotton and metallic yarn. 90 x 110 cm.
